Coronavirus Policy
In response to the threat of a Coronavirus Outbreak we are doing what we can to minimize the risk of exposure. Below is our Policy to our employees and a link to the Door Hanger we have on the entrance to our Adult Family Homes. It is our desire to make sure that everyone under our care as safe as possible and though we have a great history of preventing sickness and the spread of sickness we have implemented a few more precautions to our normal routine and protocols.
Purpose:
The purpose of this policy is to remind and inform caregivers of how to limit the spread of infectious diseases and procedures for reducing the risk of contracting and spreading COVID-19.
Visitors:
Have all visitors wait inside at the front door until the care giver is free and ask the following questions about the following.
Fever or symptoms of a respiratory infection, such as a cough and sore throat.
International travel within the last 14 days to restricted countries. For updated information on restricted countries visit: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019- ncov/travelers/index.html
Been in contact with someone with known or suspected COVID-19.
If visitor has been in contact or has cold or flu symptoms kindly ask them not to visit until they are better or have been cleared by a healthcare professional.
Disinfect the area where the visitor if they are at risk of having COVID-19
Employees:
Remember to wash hand frequently and after every task as is already required even when gloves have been worn.
Remember to disinfect toilets after each use as this is our standard practice (this includes the employee bathroom)
Night & Day Shift: Disinfect all door handles, knobs and light switches etc with Clorox Wipes once during your shift. This should take no longer than 15 to 20 min.
If you have been exposed to someone known with COVID-19 please contact Resident Manager for instructions on what to do.
If you develop a cough or sore throat during a shift immediately put on a mask and gloves and call the Resident Manager and limit contact with residents.
Disinfect any areas where you may have been.
If you are at home have a cold or flu or flu like symptoms call your supervisor as soon as possible so a replacement caregiver can be found.
Residents:
If a resident begins coughing please isolate the resident into their room. Keep door closed if possible.
Take the residents temperature and record it in Adult Family Home Connection and make a communication note.
Wash hands and disinfect any areas or locations resident was in.
Call Resident Manager and inform them of the information gained.
Resident Manager is to call family and work on getting resident the medical and or testing needed to determine action and follow heath care professional instructions.
